Roof anatomy

Seven layers between your family and the sky.

Most leaks start under the shingles. This is everything we install on a Dryline roof, from the deck up.

Layer 01

Solid deck

We re-nail the deck to current code and replace soft or delaminated boards with 7/16-inch OSB. Shingles are only as strong as what they're nailed into.

7/16″ OSBRing-shank nails
Layer 02

Drip edge

A metal edge along every eave and rake sends water into the gutter instead of behind the fascia, where rot starts.

26-gauge steelColor-matched
Layer 03

Ice & water shield

A self-sealing membrane at the eaves, in valleys and around every pipe, vent and chimney: the places water tries first.

Self-adheredSeals around nails
Layer 04

Synthetic underlayment

A tear-resistant woven sheet replaces old felt paper. It stays flat in 100°F heat and keeps the deck dry if a storm rolls in mid-install.

Woven polypropyleneUV-rated 180 days
Layer 05

Starter strip

Factory-sealed starter shingles lock the first course down at the eaves and rakes, where wind uplift begins.

Sealant line at edges
Layer 06

Class 4 impact shingles

Rated to UL 2218 Class 4: a 2-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet doesn't crack them. Many Texas insurers discount premiums for them.

Layer 07

Ridge vent & cap

Continuous exhaust along the ridge lets hot attic air escape, balanced with intake at the soffits. Your AC will notice by August.

Materials

Five roofs that make sense in Texas.

All five are rated for Texas wind. They differ in how they handle hail, heat and your budget. Prices are installed, per square foot of roof.

Most popular in Texas

Class 4 impact shingle

Looks like a standard shingle, built with rubberized asphalt that flexes under hail instead of cracking.

$5.75–8.00per sq ft, installed

Best for: Hail alley: DFW, Central Texas and the Panhandle.

How big is too big?

The National Weather Service calls hail severe at 1 inch. Standard shingles often bruise around that size. Class 4 shingles are tested with a 2-inch steel ball. Shown to scale.

Severe: 1″ and upClass 4 test: 2″ steel ball from 20 ft

How it works

From first call to final nail.

Five steps, one project manager, and a text before every one of them. Most customers go from inspection to new roof in under two weeks.

  1. Day 0 · 45 min

    Inspect

A certified inspector flies a drone over your roof and checks the attic. You get a 40-photo report the same day.

  2. Within 24 hrs

    Plan

A line-item proposal with three material options. No pressure, and no "today only" prices.

  3. If it's storm damage

    Claim support

We meet your adjuster on the roof with photos and measurements. You file and own the claim.

  4. Install day · 7 a.m.

    Build

Old roof off, new roof on, gutters cleaned and the yard swept twice with magnets by sunset.

  5. For life

    Protect

We register your warranty within 7 days and come back for a free check after the first big storm.

  • Lifetime material warranty

Registered with the manufacturer within a week of your install.

  • 25-year workmanship warranty

If our install fails, we fix it. Transfers once if you sell.

  • Fixed-price proposals

The price we quote is the price you pay. Rotten decking is priced per sheet, up front.

  • Clean-yard promise

Two magnetic sweeps before we leave. Find one of our nails later and we'll send you $20.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Talk to a roofer, not a call center. (512) 555-0187

Mon–Sat, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The storm line answers 24/7.

Will insurance pay for a new roof after hail?

If a covered storm damaged it, usually yes, minus your deductible. We'll inspect for free and tell you honestly whether the damage is worth a claim. Sometimes it isn't, and we'll say so.

Can you file or negotiate my claim for me?

No. Texas doesn't allow a contractor to act as a public adjuster on a job they're doing, and it shouldn't. We document the damage, meet your adjuster on the roof and provide a detailed scope. You file the claim and you own it.

Can you cover my deductible?

No. Waiving, rebating or absorbing a deductible is illegal in Texas, and contracts tied to an insurance claim must say that you pay it. A roofer who offers is a red flag.

How long does a replacement take?

Most homes take one day. Steep, very large, metal and tile roofs take two to four days.

Do Class 4 shingles really lower my premium?

Many Texas insurers offer a discount for UL 2218 Class 4 roofs. Ask your agent for the number; we'll send them the certificate they need after install.

What if it rains during the install?

We only tear off what we can dry in the same day, and every crew carries tarps. Our project managers start watching radar at 5 a.m.

Do you handle permits and HOA approval?

Yes. We pull permits where your city requires them and prepare HOA color and material submittals.
